The ORL is excited to coordinate the Yoga and Meditation Fellowship and India Immersion trip. The Fellowship is open by application to all Princeton University undergraduate and graduate students. We generally look to create a cohort of 10-12 students who will journey to India to participate in learning and service experiences around yoga and meditation practice. Fellows then return to campus and are charged with keeping the best of this immersion experience alive, and paying it forward by sharing it with others, back on campus. The program is currently on hiatus, but we are exploring future iterations and possibilities.

The total cost for this 20-day international trip is approximately $5900 per student. This includes:
- Round-trip airfare from Princeton to India and back
- Accommodations (double-room occupancy in 4/5-star hotels, guest-houses, and retreat centers)
- 3 daily meals
- Transportation within India via train, domestic flights, and private air-conditioned motor coach
- English-speaking tour guides to accompany the group
- Daily yoga classes, meditation sessions, and discussion sessions
- Admission and fees to program activities, museums, and other sites visited
- Honoraria for guest presenters
- Reading materials
The Office of Religious Life is sponsoring the majority of this expense for all selected students. Fellows will be responsible for $2500, to be applied toward the purchase of their round-trip airfare to and from India and other related costs.
A limited number of need-based scholarships will also be made available on a case-by-case basis.
The Fellowship especially seeks to create an engaged, enthusiastic, and invested team of students—from a diversity of background and degrees of experience with yoga and meditation (including none!).
We expect Yoga and Meditation Fellows to commit to the following:
- attending 3 orientation meetings in the Fall semester
- fully participating in the alternative winter break experience in India
- coordinating and leading on-campus follow-up activities in the Spring and Fall semesters following their return
We invite candidates to apply via the online form. We will select a number of applicants for personal interviews to further explore their candidacy. We welcome applications from students of all faiths (or no faith in particular), cultural backgrounds, and academic disciplines. Prior experience or familiarity with yoga and meditation or social justice activism is not required.
